Yeah, thanks for the help:) as I wrote below I have to get back to speed in this topic:) currently we are repairing an excavator (bit bigger stuff than brushcutters:) ). I'll try to take a photo and post it here. (I know that this isnt a place for it but just for fun:))
I guess that its a busy time of year for you, I need to spend more time in the garden tidying up. I suspect that we all have too many projects and too little time. When you find some time we will get some comms with your ECU.

Sorry that I was absent for a long period of time, but as spring and summertime arrived I had loads of lawn mowers and brush cutter to repair:))) soon I will get a diesel lawn mower tarctor to repair also... pretty nice:)
Anyway I didnt forget about this nice forum and I will try to be here more often.
To get comms on pin 9 you will need to modify the circuit. Firstly the 4k7 resistors should be connected to 5V and not 12V then you will need to add a comparator, something like an LM2901 with the reference voltage set to 2.5V, you can divide that down from the 5V supply. Ideally you should add some hysteresis as well, take a look at my schematic, there are values shown there. You won't be able to copy my circuit exactly because the logic levels are inverted within the FTDI chip.

Unfortunately I didnt have the right tools available yesterday.
I tried to loosen the screws (the 3 screw which holds the ecu housing to the case) but they are pretty much fixed (i'm not a weak guy:), also its preatty hard to reach because of the cables...:S
On the diagnostic socket do you have 12V on pin 7 and 5V on pin 9?
Can you send me a picture of the circuit board? The circuit board usually has the connector pin names marked on the PCB, you should be able to see if the components for the OBD2 interface are fitted.

I bought a few months ago an ELM327 OBD2 scanner, but I didnt manage to connect to my car with it. I tried a lot of softwares, modiag, elmscan, obdspy.... none worked:((
My car was made in 1999. sept. I tried it on a younger suzu, made in 2001.aug, 1.0 GLX (which officially should be OBD2) but didnt work for that either.
By the way, the above mentioned progs support KWP2000 fast init. I tried the progs with automatic protocol searches and manual but still not okay.
You have pin 7 populated so the ECU should be OBD2. I have had a 2001 Swift Euro 4 ECU connected to a cheap ebay code reader, the protocol was KWP2000 fast init. I was also able to connect on pin 9 using the SDL software, SDL is used for the actuator tests on the OBD2 models.

You will have to use the MAX circuit with a USB-serial converter, the PC serial port doesn't support the baud rates used in vehicle diagnostics. The voltage levels on that circuit are all wrong so that may not work anyway.
On your OBD2 socket which pins are populated?

Welcome to the board, some work has already been done on the 1.0 Swift. Do you have the 4-cylinder engine or the 3-cylinder? Was your Swift built in Hungary?
