4 and 5 are both ground connections, one is the signal ground and one is the chassis ground, some vehicles only use one ground connection.

16 is the battery power connection to power the scan tool.

7 is the ISO pin and 9 is the SDL pin.

If you only have pin 9 then that will be SDL for the ECU and any other module as well.

Models with have both 7 and 9 connected usually only use pin 7 for the ECU, 9 would be used for an auto trans controller or immobiliser.

HI Suzuki India has different protocols some have 16,7 &5 pins populated others have 4,5,16,7 & 9 populated.

So sending one ECU of my car can verify other ECU software also?

The interface hardware is an ISO standard, the software protocol isn't. Its good to know that the Launch works as well, it seems to be a very good tool but too expensive for a hobbyist. I need to obtain an ECU before I can confirm that the SDT works.

Hi as mentioned in the service manual of my Alto (aka Wagon R) states that the protocol is ISO with K line but no one is able to connect it with any software once I got it scanned with a scanner named launch x 431.

If you can tell some tips then I can definately do some tweaking.

there are few circuits available on Internet which can communicate with this protocol but no software is avaialable

Iam also trying to source an ECU which I can send it you.

Till then witing for your tips

Thanx once again

thanx

Sunny

Feel free to ask questions. I still intend to try and source an Indian ECU, I do have an SDT tool which should allow me to communicate with an ECU and to determine the protocol.

Thank you for your kind words. At present my time is limited, I am concentrating on producing a fully functional version of RhinoView, I believe that it is almost finished but I want to increae the number of vehicles supported. I also need to complete the Help files which will include guidance on how to interpret the data from the interface. Once these tasks are well underway I will do more to promote the interfaces to raise money for future projects.

I will shortly start to offer exchange ECUS as an alternative to repairs, this will allow me to provide a faster turn around time and I'm building up a database of immobiliser codes so i can do more ECU/Immo and key matching work.

My future plans are to complete the daughterboards for the early 8V and 16V Track/Kick/Vit ECUs. I'm testing a GRID manufactured daughterboard to assess its suitability for use on Suzuki ECUs with the 40 and 42-pin processors such as the early Swifts, the VAF based Vitaras and the Vitara TCM. Unless there is significant demand these projects are not likely to be finished some months, these projects are mainly for the winter when the weather is bad.
