Ultragauge calculates the values, its a clone of Scangauge. There is lots of information about Scangauge on the web, if you find the user's manual it explains how it works.

I'm from Romania. I figured out the info I want is only available in the instrument cluster, though I found an OBD2 interface on the Internet that claims it can read the total miles/kilometers of the car. It's called Ultra Gauge and says it can show general and trip miles/km.

I don't believe that's available from the ECU, its embedded in the instrument cluster but I've never tried to read it, you'd probably have to calculate it from vehicle speed and time elapsed. Whereabouts are you located?

To be more specific, what I really need is the odometer information (the car's total/partial distance travelled), not fuel consumption.

Hi!

I want to build a device that acts like an in-car organizer and mainly needs the car's mileage information at startup.

Is there any way that this information can be made available via the OBD1 or OBD2 interface?

Or is this info only available on the instrument cluster? I have a Suzuki Swift 2 (2010).

Thank You!
