When you put it back together post up the wire colours that go to the connector, the wiring diagram isn't that helpful as it doesn't show the pin designations, we might be able to work it out from there.

If that's what it is, then why didn't the Australian DM cluster have it?
Any ideas on how to test if that's what it is?
Personally, I was thinking it is something to make the light flash instead of just staying on constantly. I applied 9v in various configurations and I couldn't observe anything..
Did you want pictures of anything before I put the car back together?
The three connections from left to right:
Connector 1: A15, and also, through a resistor, to the lowest connector on the thermostat gauge. Which I assume is positive voltage.
Connector 2: Connecting to what I'm assuming is ground
Connection 3: The hazard symbol, and through a diode, to B1
Is this connected to the VSS input? I know that the JDM motorbikes have a light that comes on at 50 or 55MPH which is their national speed limit, maybe its something similar.

Hey, I'm Disco, from Australia. Currently doing a baleno g16 swap into a Suzuki Sierra (Samurai). To ensure all the original cluster works, I imported a JDM cluster.
Everything seems comparable to the stock, except for this mysterious grey sensor. It attaches where the three exposed contacts are and I've been unable to figure out what it does for the life of me!
