The unit in my car (63B7 3), does have a 18-Pin connector and a 12-Pin (not quite sure) whereas this dismantled unit on my desk (62E3 1) has a 26-pin connector, and a 16-Pin one. So I doubt they have the same hardware inside, although I can't be sure.
The Denso D3 is quite different because it doesn't control the ignition, any D3 should work OK in your car. I have this site bookmarked for Swifft info, it may be of use to you:
To power up the ECU you only need 12V on B+ and a ground connection, on some ECUs the grounds are seperate and must be connected together. An ECU with injection and ignition control will need the IFS signal to get injection. The ECU won't do much until you input a CAS signal.

I'm not getting any data out of the unit on my desk, it's sending out some pwm signals on some of the pins, and the 5V looks ok. This is when I just wired the GND and the +B (12V). Does it requre any other lines to be powered before it responds to anything?

There is no hint in my car at a connector, like the one your website mentions, having an SDL line.
So, I'll be looking for an exact duplicate of my ECU, mainly because I need the connector, which in worst case will allow me too hook up my own MCU which will measure all the signals running though the wires.
The 33920-63B73 that you have in your car will be very similar to the other D3 ECUs, the last number is a revision, sometimes there is a small software change, sometimes it is just a small hardware change. You may find that the difference between a B72 and a B73 is just that a few components changed to surface mount devices, the ECUs will be interchangeable.
What I like about the Denso ECUs is that most of them have the connector pin out printed on the silkscreen, much easy to reverse engineer. The SDL link should work with my interface, all US Swifts and Geo Metros with a serial link seem to use the same address mapping. From what I can gather from Google searches the G3 was fitted to the 1991 to 1995 Swifts with the B31 being a 1991.

Thanks for the reply. I hadn't found your processor list page yet, I think it will be helpfull, since the IC on this board is labelled as 76C75T, A PLCC 68-pin package. I'll try and see if I can hook the RX and TX pins, those should be TTL level, because they seem to go to a whole bunch of transistors and eventually end up at the pin labelled SDL.

So, I'm still looking for any details on the one actually in my car, which as of yet I dare not to open. It has a different connector and different wire colours.
If you need anything, let me know. I'm willing to solder this entire thing apart and help you document it.

The G3 ECU is not known to me, this is a Denso ECU with a 76C75T processor? Please send me pictures, I have only seen this processor in Mitsubishi ECUs labelled as an MH6111. I have done lots of work trying to understand the 76C processors including creating a prototype daughterboard:
I seem to have made my way to the only forum on the internet which has an expert on Suzuki ECU's.
In my effort to fit my Suzuki Swift with a cruise control, which I will build entirely from scratch, I've run into some issues with which I hope you can help me:
Observations:
1. Anyone doing any serious modification on old Swifts, do so on the GTI model, which for $$$ reasons, I don't have.
2. There is no easy way to obtain a technical manual for my model.
3. I'm seriously starting to wonder what model I actually have.
Obviously, I bought it from a guy who bought it from a guy etc. But anyhow, on the registration paper it says:
It's a Swift 1.3 GS U9.
3 April 1990.
4 Cylinders
52 kW (Which is weird, bacause all G13 Engines listed in the Wiki, say it should be 50kW)...
735 kg.
The previous model I owned (a 1.3 GS from 1989) had a different interior, and said 50kW on the paper. I got better milleage (kilometerage) out of it too.

Have you, or anyone, worked with these before. For instance, can I use the SDL to USB connector on either of these? The second one, which I have opened up does have an SDL pin which is routed to the MCU, a 76C75T (also a mistery.)
I'm still trying to obtain the exact same ECU, since I dont want to take my car apart.
Hope someone can provide me with usefull documentation or pointers in the right direction.
