Thats cheap for a Tech 2. I have been trying to source one but most of them are clones with US only software. I have a couple of Tech 1 tools but I only have cartridges for 1991-95 years. I also have an SDT but but that only covers later N. America models and diesel models.

My software won't work with this ECU, it only works if you have diagnostics on pin 9.

Oh No! I´m back to the ideas world again....

Tech 2, Tech 1.5, etc, in Costa Rica may be $700 (US$), second hand... (used).

Is more expensive that I think to buy, I´ll search if any mechanic in Costa Rica, may be read codes from my Jimny... (I don´t want buy another OBD2 car... ja ja ja).

Thanks for all, Pura Vida!

I think that it is most likely to be SDL/KWP which is a Suzuki protocol and not OBD2 - it uses the same pins as ISO9141-2. This protocol was used in many countries where OBD2 was not required by law.

Pins used are: # 4, 5, 7 and 16, maybe iso 9142... all scanners used are made with this protocol... I don´t understand why didn´t read codes...

Thanks a lot, and sorry I don´t speak english very well...

It could be a protocol called SDL/KWP, you can test for it using an ELM tool and a terminal emulator as described here:

A good place to start is to look at the diagnostic port and list which of the pins are populated.

From that we can get an idea as to which protocols may be considered.
